I’m loving the idea of drawing flowers to scale - first it was the foxgloves and this week, it has been Gladioli.
I used a small paintbrush and black Indian ink for this one (same as my foxglove piece). I liked the fact that I could create a fluid line and that I wouldn’t run out of ink - as a pen might.
I had a lovely day today, out sketching in a local walled garden. It was open today just for a sketching workshop and it was so relaxing being able to sit and sketch and not feel like you are in someone’s way! (It’s open to the public normally). I experimented with drawing with different pens as I’m always interested in how the flow of ink works and what sort of drawing it results in.
I started with…
A stick! And ink - it’s really fun and unpredictable. This was going to be a warm up and but I enjoyed it so much I carried on for a bit.
I also used a dip pen and ink, then a fountain pen, a paint marker and also a fine liner.
More experiments to be had!
